Can I use Capstar to prevent further flea infestations?

Capstar is not a preventative treatment and will not kill fleas after 24 hours. The product is designed to provide fast relief from fleas and can be combined with regular use of long-acting products such as Seresto Flea and Tick Control collar or Advantage Spot-on, to prevent further infestations.

What is the active ingredient?

Capstar uses the active ingredient Nitenpyram to kill fleas on your pet.

Who can use Capstar?

Capstar Tablets are for the treatment of flea infestations on cats, kittens, dogs and puppies.

Available in two simple pack sizes: Capstar for Small Dogs & Cats under 11kg and Capstar for Large Dogs over 11kg. Capstar for Small Dogs & Cats is suitable for use in puppies and kittens 4 weeks of age or older, weighing over 1kg.

How should I give Capstar to my pet?

Capstar can be taken with or without food and concealed in a treat for those fussy eaters! Place the tablet directly into your pet’s mouth or hide it in food. If you hide it in food, watch closely to make sure your pet swallows the tablet.

Tablets should be administered according to the dosing schedule on the label. You should weigh your pet prior to administration to ensure accurate dosing.

Can Capstar be used alongside other medicines?

 

Capstar can be used alongside any other medications that your pet is receiving.

Can Capstar be used in puppies and kittens?

Capstar can be used in puppies and kittens over 4 weeks of age as long as they are over 1kg in weight.

Why is my pet scratching after administering Capstar?

You may notice your pet scratching shortly after giving Capstar. This is caused by fleas reacting to the product.
